Hrng...Red Panda Labs Particle or mtl asm Count to Five?

Well?
I notice them mentioned often in the same breath. I can't afford/don't have room for both. I've owned the Particle and loved it, but I often used it for re-looping loops, granular sampling, and a bunch of other weird stuff. The CT5 looks great, too, and does many of those things.
Is there a lot of overlap? Are they totally different beasts? Is owning both a dumb way to spend limited funds?

I've owned both and I think I prefer the ct5 just a little bit. The particle is also super awesome though, and they do quite different things. For loopy stuff and drones pick the ct5, for delay and harsher noise pick the particle.
Owning both wouldn't be overkill in my books, they overlap but also each does a lot of unique stuff.

Also ct5 because you never know when Scott will find something new and different to maKe.
Particle, in this context (no pun), is "mass produced" and easier to get hold of in the future.

Clips?
I wouldn't have thought of the CT5 and Particle of being
that similar, but will defer to those that have/had both. But if you can only get one or are going to buy one first, go CT5. MTL.ASMs build cycle is such that it seems that if you're interested you have to strike ASAP or forever be left to stalking BST threads; the Particle, seems like there's new (new new, not used) on ebay everyday.

I also have both and in terms of which one is the more inspiring pedal, I'd say the Count to Five wins for me.

Thanks! This has been helpful. Still not sure which one I'll end up with...hopefully both at some point, but I guess it makes more sense to pounce on the CT5 while it's available.

besides both being able to delay/hold/loop sounds i wouldn't consider them very similar at all. i haven't had the CT5 around long enough for this to really be fair but i can still easily say the particle is my favorite guitar pedal ever made (out of the 100+ i've had at least). the CT5 does have some really cool tricks to it though, and like someone else said, it feels a bit less predictable to me in a way that's sometimes creatively great when i'm recording, and seems like it could be frustrating live.

I can't comment on the Particle (although I really want one) but I can strongly recommend the Count to 5.
Also I have to echo everyone else and say that you don't want to miss out on the likely limited run from Montreal Assembly.
I missed out on Goodbye 24s and regretted it until the Count to 5 came out

I was personally kinda disappointed with the Particle. I really didn't "get" some of the settings on it and I spent along time trying to find "musical contexts" in which to use the sounds in. I found I had to go for very low mix sounds to really make it work for myself. However, having said that, both the Particle and Count to Five open up massively when you have an expression pedal. Ct5, quantized, mode one = reminded me of something like a powerful MuRF esque sequencer.
