Mastotron volume?

Post by frigid midget »

Ever since I got this pedlol, I've been praising it all over the place...

But when I used it with a cranked 2x12 AC15, I barely got it to unity volume, even with the pedal's volume dimed. Never noticed it on my other amps, but I don't think I ever used it in the same way/context/situation before. Could the dirty AC15 be the culprit here, or has anyone else here experienced a lack of volume on their mastotron? As far as impedance issues go: I Always run it second in the chain, after a TurboTuner. I didn't think of trying it before the tuner, and don't have my rig at home atm...Might that be worth a shot? :idk: :idk: :idk:

Possibly, also use the input trim control for it to have less sag and compression.

You mean the relax/push pot to control the input impedance? I'm pretty sure I had it dimed :idk:

Exactly, pull it back and the sound will be less mushy, personally I think it sounds best with the relax/push pot completely off or only 1/4 up.

Well if you were using it like that before it might be that you prefer it like that, a crunchy amp will likely give another result than a clean amp though so it might be worth a shot to pull down on the relax/push control.
It could be that the tuner in front did something to the impedance and in my experience the Zvex drive pedals are generally quite picky with that so next time don't forget to try the Mastotron out as first in the chain.
I hope it works out for you! :thumb:

It's sorta a set and forget affair for me, cause I don't want to get lost in all those knobs and sounds and end up spending more time fiddling with my pedals than playing guitar. It just never occured to me that the volume control wasn't the only knob that could have a big impact on the effect's volume.

And come to think of it, my volume pedal broke on me recently, and this was the first time I didn't bring it to rehearsel. Meaning I had the tuner in front of the mastotron, instead of in the tuner input of the volume pedal  I also normally use a much cleaners amp, with a lot more headroom.

So that's three things to check, thanks again...
