pre fab modules

has any one ever used the various prefab modules like pt2399 delay / echo and other pre amp (385) or 555 timer / oscillator circuits and adapted those for a pedal? was it a good outcome? I have a limited budget and with 2 jobs limited time, but love the hobby. I figured modules still need to be adapted and fitted with switches, pots, LEDs and in / outputs. Thoughts?

1776 has an add-on modulation module for their Multiplex that probably adapts to othe pt2399 delays. A bunch of guys have add-on tap tempo modules that are supposed to work with other delay boards. I don't know how many delay boards have accessible loops to insert effects in the regeneration loop or only in the wet or dry path, but that's a place to individuate your builds.
