Should I trade my '84 vintage rat with lm308 chip
For a brand new boss fz-2 plus 100 bucks?
I could really use the cash and I've always wanted a fz-2...
Anyone with a fz-2 have opinions on the pedal?

Go out and buy the behringer sf-2 or whatever it is. It's an exact clone and does the job 95% perfectly.

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm not obsessed with electric wizard and if I get the pedal I will have "that" tone. I do like them a lot, the thing that is attracting me to the deal is the 100 bones. I put the rat on craigslist and I'm trying to get 250 and I should just be patient... The fz-2 is the best out of all the deals I have to work with...

The thing is, I wouldn't really seek a fz-2. There are 100 other pedals I would rather have. It's just this deal I've been handed and I'm trying to work with it cuz I need the cash. But I DO love my rat....

For real, man... If you are that strapped, there are way better ways to pick up a hundo than making a weak trade.

I still would've done it. Than again, I'm not into the rat's low end sag, and the FZ-2 is one of my favorite fuzz peds.
I tried a number of different rats through the years, and imo the different versions sound...a bit different from each other
In your case, I would've done the trade, flip the FZ-2, and get the first Rat you can get a hold of. There's a billion of quality clones out there that do the same thing, for hardly more cash. Hell, a lm308 usa Rat2 can still be had for 100ish, right? You would've ended up with an extra 100 bucks in your pocket, enough to shop for another toy
