Any idea what body this is intended to be?

It was a GFS factory buyout item. It looks like a mustang, but seems to have a Jazzmaster/jaguar switch on the right side, but no vibrato.

Nice of them to clean up all the sawdust from that cavernous route...

Maybe, but I'm not sure. This is what the body of a Turser looks like. It would also have a complete bridge route rather than those four weirdly set screws.

I had the Turser and it didn't have a swimming pool route.

whatever it is it's cool. I'm seeing a cross between a mustang and a hagstrom ii.

Wouldn't those be for a bigsby type tailpiece? Tried searching for copies that use a bigsby style whammy, but couldn't find anything with a google search.

Tried to search some more, and maybe it's an Alden Quadraster?
Edit: Looking thru a thread on those on OSG, and someone posted a Flickr album with some pics of it opened up. I'm pretty sure that's what the body is.

I think you may be onto something there... it looks like "ALDEN" it written in pencil on the upper horn (couldn't see that last night on my phone).
That thing is bonkers! Eeeeeenteresting...

I didn't see that either lol. Probably would have made things easier with searching if I did.
Yeah, it looks insane. Someone on the OSG thread said that the guitar is 250 euro (300 USD) (keep in mind, this was in 2010, so dunno if it's same price or not), so it might just be worth looking into one of those. OP from that thread is in the US, so it seems like you can get them here.

I bought a Mustang TOM for it, and will have a left over Teisco style string retainer from the Japanese thing I am fixing. I am glad it isn't a Turser; I felt a bit ripped off paying $42 for a body on a guitar that can be had for $150 and needing to track down a pickguard. I still gotta get a pickguard, and I am a bit let down the scale is 25.5" but it'll be easier to find a neck.
