i want to pick up an expression pedal to pair with my Count To Five. It will primarily be used at home, and at any (very occasional) solo shows in the foreseeable future.
a lot of them look like crappy plastic pieces of junk (M-Audio, Behringer, even the Moog). are appearances deceiving me?
does it even matter? should i just get a cheap one & not worry about it? that's what i'm leaning towards (but i appreciate your opinions nonetheless).

I use the moog for my hog, works well enough. I also used the boomerang holy roller, a little weird if you are used to the normal wah style, but quite usable. I'm surprised zvex hasn't done an expression probe.

I don't know if a BOSS FV-500H might be the right thing, but I only heard good things about it. It has a die-cast chassis and treadle and seems to be very sturdy.

I like the Source Audio dual expression pedal. Good price, sturdy enclosure, one fixed output, and a second adjustable out to tailor to different expression input requirements so you get a nice smooth sweep.

I use a Boss FV-500H as a volume pedal but it does have exp capability as well. Very sturdy but large.

I've always used the Moog ones.

I was just about to get a Source Audio one recently but then I saw the one that they have in the works for release next year and decided to wait. Not much info yet but it looks amazing, more outputs and a LFO...

I have been using a Behringer exp. pedal for about 5 years and it still works fine. It's pretty robust.

cant go wrong with a roland ev5.
can pick them up pretty cheap and they are plastic, but its tough plastic

$100-120, can be used as a volume or expression pedal, and has a tuner out too.

Moog good! Countless practices,jams, and shows. No broken pieces and simple to use.
Expression pedals might not be glamorous..I mean like the fuzz, but damn fun when using to maximize the sounds.

just a synth style expression pedal? I've had a yamaha fc7 for many years and it still works great. i have a moog one too. go whatever of the two are cheapest
