I have a Dimension C emulation in my POD HD which sounds pretty awesome. I wonder how it compares to Behringer's analog recreation, since I'm told that one is really accurate to the original. Has anyone tried both? Is it worth checking out even though I have a digital emulation of it? I'd also like to be able to use it as an outboard mixing effect without having to go through the POD's a/d/a conversion, so that appeals to me as well.

Didn't bother with the Behringer, the digital recreations of it are pretty spot on from whoever makes them - it's a LOT easier to make a preset, non-adjustable recreation than one with knobs and variance and interaction.

If you're worried about A/D/A converters and sound quality, the Behringer isn't exactly my first stop for fidelity in any of their stompboxes.

I'd go straight to a rackmount Roland Dimension D and accept no substitutes if I desperately wanted to use it as an outboard effects and was concerned about the A/D/A.

Not sure that it's much of something to worry about to be honest though - are you experiencing actual problems with the I/O?

Nah, I'm not experiencing any significant fidelity problems, it's more a personal preoccupation with reducing the amount of A/D/A stages. Not my primary motivation for considering getting one. I'm really mostly curious if the Behringer is nicer sounding since it's an analog recreation instead of a digital emulation (not that I have anything against digital emulations, lots of them are spectacular).

Man, a real Roland SDD-320 would be great to have!

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Line 6, so I can't really help there. But I got to directly A/B an old Boss DC-2 against the Behringer. I even did a blind test of sorts, wherein I was facing away from the pedals and had my son clicking them on and off. And fuck me if I could tell the difference. So at least on this one, Behringer really did it right and I sold off the Boss for the $$$ and hung on to the Behringer.
