I'm way more into astrophysics than particle physics, although there is a bit of overlap. I could recommend some great books for astrophysics, though

my physics teacher did a good job of making sure we all understand that all science is essentially variations on the same themes. if energy = matter (and it does) then everything is just made up of the same stuff and there fore works in the same way. the closer you look at stuff the more it all looks the same. while the math is interesting i think a lot of these principles are pretty universally understandable without it.
my favorite sxience outlets are
-The Naked Scientists Podcast
-Seed Magazine

I'm really curious about quantum physics and so forth. Though I've never gotten into it rigorously.
I've read a lot of books about it, but they were all intended for lay people, and thus reiterated the same basic points.
Anyone know of any other good books out there that would be the "next step up?" I'm thinking something that would go into a little more detail then QED for Dummies. I'm not a scientist but I have a strong science/math background.

a lot of the theory of quantum physics interests me and I find it fascinating, but the maths loses me. I once watched a series of documentaries on the subject, and followed it, mostly, until they started on with String Theory and then it got weird.
