I fucking loved Only Lovers Left Alive, it had all of the Anne Rice trappings I love and, best of all, a killer soundtrack. One song that stood out of me is the opener:

Squrl's other music is pretty standardy shoegazy stuff, great on its own, but not matching with this song. Google Music and YouTube have not yielded any bands that sound like this, so I turn to you guys. Anything similar?

I'm assuming you already know of them, but this reminds me a lot of early Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and bits of The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

I didn't know about them, actually! I like that it has hints of that shoegazy shimmer and wobble without diving into the genre itself.

That movie absolutely blew me away, every bit of it.

You guys keep saying "might be obvious" but this is the first time I hear both of these bands.

The Dead Weather do a more popular -- aka you may have heard of them -- variation on this sort of jam. Allison Mossheart's got a great voice for it. I particularly dig 60 feet tall (the first track on this record). Not typically very gaze-y, though.
