OK I’ll be 40 in 2015… I want to sell my Tele and get something I like.
My first though was a Fano JM6 with Lolar Imperial humbucker (with coil tap).
The wood would have been mahogany for the body and maple for the neck.
But at the moment money conversion (USD to CND) is silly, so this would be really too expensive.

Any suggestions under 2500 CDN and available in Canada.

Godin? Some of their stuff is pretty sexy.

I don't think that Fano stuff is all that to be honest, I've had a few in my paws but they all sounded kinda dry and dead to me...

Never tried a Fano... sound dry? That's one of the reason I dont like Tele's (lifeless).

Then you've got the wrong Tele man, if it's too modern in specs it gets a different sound, especially happens with Tele's, Fender Customshop NoCasters are usually awesome and amongst the most resonant guitars I ever played for instance.
I don't know the market in Canada, but if you search around for guitar stores don't you find anything you like?
Or maybe second hand in the Quebec area, or aren't there guitar builders in the Quebec area?
Do you do the adjustments of the guitar, intonation etc. by yourself or do you go to a guitar builder to let him/her do it?
If so, maybe you can talk to him/her and see what he/she comes up with, either a design or names of other builders that build the stuff you're looking for.
Maybe try Nelson Guitars, I know he's in the US but his prices are quite fair and he makes more unique designs which might be what you're looking for.

I like the looks of Potvins too, Syl. How about a Kauer? Or an LSL? Or just hunting around for something used or vintage? I'd imagine you could get a ton of used guitar for $2500CDN.

In fact I just shipped a Provocateur to a happy fellow in winnipeg! (And he said that guitar just might make him sell all of his teles!)

I have big hands and like 25 or 25.5 scale length wide fat neck.
If I don't mistake, I think Nelson are more like short scale guitar?

Thanks Kosta .... those Kauer look awesome but no one sell them here and are more expensive than Fano.

Well I suppose it depends on what you define as short scale. My standard is 24.75" but depending on the model a longer scale could be used.

Also neck width can be changed.
Obviously I'm not mentioning these things to put any pressure on the situation but just offering clarification!

In the used market, I'l lobe to find a Guild Bluesbird.

A bluesbird is cool. A night bird is also very cool though more expensive!

Heritage Guitars maybe Syl?
Great guitars for a decent price and I think they sometimes make 25,5" scale guitars.

Most (if not all) Heritage are build on Gibson specs.
So not really what I'm looking for.
