Just finished the second. Fucking incredible. I can't wait till my copy gets here so I can force everyone in my house to listen to it. At top volume.

Yeah I guess it has the exact same title, but they are two completely different albums.

I thought the same thing when I heard about this. Also, still don't undertand the versions. Is the vinyl a different album than the cd? Or can I get both versions on cd? halp plz

Vinyl and cd versions are the same, you just have to get both of them to get the whole The Ape of God album. Just check the track listings, they're different.
Oh and Profound Lore has them listed as 145 and 145.5 too.

Not that there's an appreciable difference, but I think they're just two records with the same title released on the same day that sound the same because OMG is pretty constricted stylistically speaking.

They did post that the Ape of God was supposed to be a reference to the devil and that he was like, the ultimate trickster or something.
EDIT for da quote:
“The Ape Of God” is a medieval reference to the trickster archetype, or the devil. The trickster archetype is associated with the following characteristics as described by C.G. Jung: “A fondness for sly jokes and malicious pranks, His power as a shape shifter, his dual nature, half animal, half divine, his exposure to all kinds of torture, and – last but not least – his approximation to the figure of a savior.”
And they had a facebook status that ended with we will trick you, we will trick you, we will trick you, we will trick you, etc. So I think it's part of the concept.
But I'm not gonna say you're wrong

I thought that was just a veiled reference to remastering Oceanic without a vinyl release because AHAHAHAHAHHA that's hilarious.

Their first four albums are some of the best I've experienced in recorded music history.
I need to spend more time with NO because it fell off my radar, but I adored Rats.
I'll get these upon proper release, both albums even!
And there was much rejoicing...

Man, NO is great

just try and tell me this doesn't make you destroy your surroundings
OMG is in general pretty consistently one of the heaviest sounding bands I've heard with a really interesting taste for noisy and ambient experiments as well.
Listening to both albums now... the dummy album was already pretty great, but this is even better
PS: is it just me or does anyone else hear a bit of Strapping Young Lad in "Simia Dei"?

So anyone know if there will be a vinyl release, cause I can only seem to find a CD order on Profound Lore's website, or am I being silly?
