Which pot for Wah Wah Q control?

I have found lots of links for adding a rotary q control on my crybaby... But none that actually say what I need.
Do I just get a potentiometer with the highest value I need (like 100k as I've seen a few posts mention) snd wire it directly to the board? Or do I get a pot and solder caps on it like a switch?
For some reason I just can't find the specifics on doing this mod.
Thanks

If it's just taking the place of a resistor then yes, like you say, use the highest useful value resistance.

Is there a type of pot? Or is a pot a pot a pot?

This is quite heavy but the answers are in it....

You can probably get by (like I do) just knowing that there are linear and logarithmic ('b' and 'a' suffixed respectively), even though there are others. And that you can put a resistor in series or in parallel with it to alter its curve. So a 10k resistor before a 50k pot in series will mean your sweep is from 10 to 60k. And if you take a 100k pot and put a 100k resistor across lugs 1 and 3, then you are simulating a 50k pot.
Someone else here like Eatyourguitar will be able to tell you what's best for this application but I would guess a linear would be the one.
