In The Aeroplane is a masterpiece. I could spend hours talking about the lyrics - and have, really. I wouldn't necessarily say it's my favorite record ever, but I will say it's always in the top 5 no matter what mood I'm in.

Such elegant, clean songwriting! Such fascinating melodies! Such interesting arrangements!

Really, every time I get to the end of "2 Headed Boy pt. 2" I want to stop existing.

My absolute favorite. On the second date I went on with my wife, to a friend's house party, we got to talking about music, I told her about In the Aeroplane over the Sea, and recited a couple of my favorite lyrical snippets ("I know they buried her body with others..." and "In my dreams, you're alive and you're crying...."). Made her cry, in a good way. That second bit, from Two-Headed Boy Pt 2, along with the following section (..." push the pieces in place/make your smile sweet to see/ don't you take this away/ I'm still wanting my face on your cheek") get me choked up a fair amount of the time, I'm not ashamed to say.

There's so much to the songs, too, that they never get old to me. The weird sounds, the story, the imagery, the little extra sounds (the chair creaking at the end of Two-Headed Boy Pt 2, the person shouting "Holy Shit!" at the end of Oh Comely.
So, so good.
