I haven't played guitar for 2 days, and I'm really getting itchy. I keep poking my fingertips with my fingernails just so they can feel a groove. I try to play every day. Sometimes it's just for short periods, other times it could be for a couple hours. Granted, all this playing/practicing hasn't made me any good, but at least I have a good time.

So, how often do you feel the need? Is it a strong compulsion or a sense of obligation? Is it work or play?

It's always delightful if you don't take it as practice. I enjoy making music with an instrument.

I play everyday; sometimes it's work like I sit down to write a song but most of the time it's just for fun

Cant go for more than a few hours... I dont know why i never get any better...

Ironically I play a lot less since I discovered online music/gear/fuzz/fx forums...

I haven't played guitar since I heard about breakcore.

+1. A lot of times I leave my gear in our practice space when we're doing a song, so I go a week without pedals, which makes me cry, but on regular days it's a couple hours a day.

My drumz are at my bandmates house and we only practice 1-2 times a week.

I don't get to play as much as I'd like to, or should be.

I get home from work, and I just don't want to get my guitar out of it's case. After a 40-minute bus ride, and almost missing my stop due to falling asleep on the bus, I don't wanna do much of anything.

I strum off and on all day... I try and at least get an hours worth of practice in if i don't get caught up messing around with pedals.

Gawd, I wish I had time to play as much as I'd like... but these days, I grab my bass whenever I can, and get in as much time as I can... which is usually 15 minutes max. Sad.

But every now and then, I'll snag a little more time when no-one's around and make up for the rest of the week...

Funny how that little extra time when no one's around always makes for the best songwriting and best playing. And you can dance around and be a fool as much as you want without getting too 'ed out.
