Satiate my GAS - Weird delay/noisemaker thing

I'm still hunting for that perfect second delay. The latest was a Behringer Vintage Time Machine, which was honestly pretty awesome for the price but was just too large for my board (see BST!!!). At the end of my chain I have a De7 and I love it, but I need a pre-dirt delay as well. In the interest of keeping my board small (and my wallet full) I'm trying to find a do-it-all sort of pedal. I need a delay, but I also want it to color my sound in interesting, sometimes crazy ways. I had a clarinot and it was great, but the delay features were lacking. So far I've gone through the VTM, the Clarinot, a Cavedweller, a Memory Boy, an Echo Dream 2, and certainly a few others I'm forgetting. Essentially I'm looking for a delay that can be dark/washy, with some sort of modulation that is NOT subtle (though the possibility for subtlety would be nice) -- think Clarinot-level craziness. Also, ideally under $200 (though if I can also replace a reverb or use it as a second fuzz, perhaps more). The Echo Dream 2 got me pretty close but it honestly just felt too simple for the price. I sold it and bought three more pedals. Thoughts?

:poke:

Idiotbox Dimension X modulation is not subtle at all.

Seppuku DE-2 ($223 though)

or a Mr. Black Dark Echo (a little less crazy on the modulation)?

Catalinbread belle epoch has subtle to quite insane modulation with the turn on trick.
EQD Disaster Transport is worth checking out too, maybe in that price range used?

GB24 or CT5, possibly paired with cheapo Donner/Mooer/etc delay.

That Seppuku has been on my list for a while, but a bit out of my range. I never see his stuff used.

I tried the DT jr and regular and just couldn't get into them. The mod was super subtle on the latter. They were nice but just really...plain. I'm def hunting for GB24 or a CT5.

They'll be some on the flip side.... I haven't gotten my CT5 yet, but one of Unca Grandpappy's videos had already convinced me that I shouldn't flip my GB24 (yet?)....

One of the Catalinbreads, or maybe the Mr. Black Dark Echo?

+1 on ct5 and gb24. I've found mode one on the ct5 similar and brighter/clearer than the gb24, but not identical and brighter/clearer. I think they are both essential, but I like lots of effects on hand.

Well, if the DBA ED2 was close to perfect for you, I'd save up for a Seppuku if I were you. To me it sounds like a ED2 on steroids. I think it will replace my ED2 when I get it. I'll be sure to post an in-depth demo of it once it arrives :)

2nd option, but it's right around $200 and still may be too big - Industrialectric Echo Degrader....

I unfortunately missed the $150 echo degrader in BST! So bummed.

And I should mention I'm not totally stuck on delay. I really just want something time-based, with a weird edge. Weird tremolos? Sure! Weird verbs? Double sure!
