is it worth to get? i have been thinking all day long..

Looks good, though I'm not the biggest fan of sunbursts. And that price seems fair, seen them going for more than that before.

I'm certainly no expert, but it looks pretty good to me and the price is definitely good at the moment. If you haven't already, ask for advice on offsetguitars.com, they'll help you out there. Love the dots and binding on those '65s.

Not sure why that damage would be done, replaced truss rod maybe?

That picture was the only thing that I saw that might have been of concern as well. It does look that might be the reason for the replaced wood

I wouldn't. Also, if you a patient, you can probably find one on craigslist/local and be able to see it in person? The neck on that first one is very concerning. There are a few decent deals on Reverb from time to time, as well.

Would't call myself a fan, but that's only cause I can't afford to even come near a vintage fender

I wonder if the $2K price difference over an AVR is worth it for the average weekend warrior though. If I were rich and/or a collector I'd talk differently, but sine I'm not...I'd be a bit nervous about gigging/touring with a rare/valuable instrument like that, even IF the vintage one feels and sounds a lot better than the reissue :idk

Anyway, if it'll ever happen for me, I'd have to look for an early CBS Jazzmaster. Relatively affordable, neck binding/inlays, whitch head knobbies,....

Also, I'd only buy a guitar on ebay sight unseen if it were new, cheap, or both.

This is the type of thing if you have to ask a forum, just pay one of the big reputable sellers and pay their markup.

Chasing "cheap" on a multi-thousand instrument gets you exposed to a LOT of risk. Hell, even the big sellers get taken in by fakes with some regularity.

This is not a market for the meek.

Jazzmasters in particular I'm skeptical of vintage cheapies because *so many* were mangled to make fake Strats when nobody wanted Jazzmasters.

Lot of the guys here are too young to remember that but it was the fastest way in the old days to make a "Pre-CBS" Strat - get a body/electronics that matched (could be from a later instrument), slam the Jazzmaster neck on, redo decal, profit.

AVRI's are over $2k. With patience you can find a vintage refin in the same price range. I would look for one locally for the reasons above. If you have more $$$ you can find one at a reputable dealer on line OR you can build a parts-caster to your spec if the decal/resale value isn't a big deal.

All of this.
AVRI's aren't bad guitars at all, but they're stupidly overpriced. WAY too expensive for what they are. You can get a serious custom instrument for that money or a slightly modified vintage player.
And even if the specs are the same as the vintage equivalent, a 50 year old guitar is not going to feel anything like one fresh out of the factory. I'm not saying vintage guitars are 'better' but the AVRI only approximates how it was when it was made and not how it's ended up with age.
If you want a better deal just look out for the guitars that have been messed with in a way that won't pose a significant change to the feel or sound of it but will scare off the collectors that have the big $$$$. Vintage refins, refretted rosewood boards etc.
I'm usually skeptical of vintage mojo and collector fetishism but some of those vintage jazzys are still worth the high price tags, even if they used to be worth peanuts. I would never buy something like that off ebay without playing it first if it was intended to be played though.
