Acid Splash Designs AONYS Fuzz Optimized for Bass UPDATE!!!

Info: Acid Splash Designs is working with Roy from Greenhouse Effects on the developement and production of a very special fuzz pedal. I wanted to create something that I felt like was lacking in the pedal world. There are tons of great fuzzes out there (TAFM...so good, Depth Charge, Oxide, everything Tom makes...etc), but I wanted to make it super usable in a band context or live context for not only guitarists, but bassists as well. The idea is to take a brutal fuzz, add a full band eq and some tweaks hear and there to bring it to max awesomeness.

Details:

Bee Baa based fuzz
Four band Eq (frequencies are been modeled off of a super hot active bass pickup, so it ought to work with just about anything)
Scooped or Boosted mids on a knob/footswitch (set the level you'd like, forget it and stomp to engaged)
Clean/Dry blend for added bottom end
NO NOTCH SHIFT (wide open fuzz)
Expression control over sustain
Tone bypass switch
Top mounted jacks and power
True Bypass
SMD pcb with board mount pots
Killer graphic :)
1790ns size (same size as a ILFDD)
9 knobs for maximum tweaking

First ten-twenty interested parties will receive a killer discount and a blood written thank you letter from myself:

PRICE WILL BE $200 for these and going to $275 after.

Without knowing all the features it may or may not have, and assuming it sounds awesome on bass, the most I would want to spend on a fuzz pedal is probably $180. $200 just seems like its too much for a fuzz pedal to me, and I've yet to come across a fuzz that I would want to plunk down that kind of cash for one.

Looking at something from BAT or Blackout or something... some of the dual pedal I think I'd pay a little more for, most definitely.

I think $175 puts me to where I want to start second guessing.

Fuzz pedals, a lot like OD, comes in many varieties and flavors and there's a good deal of overlap. If you do something that everybody else is doing with only slight variation and then want to charge a lot for it I'm less inclined to give you the big bucks.

Yeah, for a clone of a simple circuit I would probably pay like $100 - 150, for a fuzz with more functionality I would pay around 150 - 200. I would pay 300 for something incredibly cool and unique, but only if it fits my needs perfectly.

maybe $300? but that tier is reserved for crazy-ass shit that isn't a clone of anything and is super well made and sounds like nothing else. not the overpriced boutique tonebender ripoff flavour of the week.
e.g. i consider $200+ fuzz pedals from companies like LAL because they're so damn unique, or like smallsound/bigsound because the circuits have more character and useful features compared to most other brands.

would like to try some DAM and Pigdog pedals but that's where the limit is for me as far as fuzz money goes so i can't speak for that super pricey tier.

I think whatever the going rate is for a Frazz Dazzler. thats the last fuzz I purchased that was a new production pedal ( we arent counting lovetone pedals here ;) )
So maybe $200 or whatever they go for.

More than that and it has to make cups of tea

For me it all depends on features and uniqueness. Trying to keep it under the $200 mark will probably sell a lot more. On the converse, companies like spaceman make a small number of unique, fancy looking models and can get away with charging way too much. Polygrace's arent that cheap either - though again only 20 or so made.

Fuzz also leaves you with the most competition. If most people are willing to pay up to $200, and that's where you price it, then it has to be unique enough that your customers can't pick up a similar pedal for $120. Use the pricing of comparable fuzzes as your guide, unless it does something that no other fuzz offers (LFOs!).

My principles are as follows (I break them but whatever)
1. Fuck mojo. I pay for awesome sounds not 45 year old capacitors.
2. I refuse to pay for shit guts and construction. If I want that I can DIY it.
3. Tom's prices are perfect for simpler fuzzes.
4. Ryan's price is perfect for more involved fuzz.
5. For something bat shit crazy like a Gnomeratron VTF I would gladly pay 250. I would seriously consider anything up to 299 (it would require consideration though). 300 would have to have warped vinyl levels of innovation and r&d (of the genuine sort, not just randomly-substituting-shit-on-the-breadboard). More than that ain't gonna happen. It's fuzz...

I paid $200 for one once but it's seen regular use for six years so I consider that a worthwhile investment. I don't think i'd pay more than that though, for fuzz.

Goroth nailed it, right hurr. I'm planning on going all-in on one of those DE BDSM's, which is $200, but it's a double-pedal (triple if you count the TP/AE modes separately), so it kind of feels like a deal in that sense.

Most I've spent was $200 on a modded V5 op amp.

I probably wouldn't spend over $150.
