Primestortion

I usually like to just lurk here, but just came across this "Primestortion" pedal from EC Pedals.
http://www.ecpedals.com/pedals/primestortion.html

It relys on "eq structure and 4 gain-stages" and "it doesn’t use any clipping diodes at all".

So what's the deal with this pedal? :idk: I've only ever come across fuzz pedals that derive the clipping from diodes, germanium or silicon or LEDs, FETcetera...

Thoughts, comments, epiphanies?

Cheers n Beers,
FF

Big muff uses 4 gain stages.
Plenty of cool fuzzes without diode clipping - the Elements can do it, crowther hotcake, way huge red llama (tube sound fuzz), demo tape fuzz...
Um... I'm too tired to make this post useful. Sorry. :idk:
... Sleeeeeeep...

Most sixties fuzzes like the fuzz face, tonebender, buzztone, pep box etc

 of course, transistor clipping! How did I forget that?
Mmm, transistors clipping...

It's out of stock and huge :idk:

Plus I'd prefer sliders instead of knobs on an eq pedal, even if it has fuzz/dist abilities :idk:

Thanks for the replies, they've made me seek out new information and I learned something: Diodes and Germanium, Silicon and all that stuff don't all belong in the same online shopping basket.

The Primestortion is knobly alright, but not any worse than a slew of other pedals. It's got 8 controls, my Elements has 10 (6 knobs and 4 switches)

So, any bets on how EC is getting clipping on the Primestortion?

I'm guessing it's cascading jfet stages in the current style of imitating the cascading triode stages of a high gain tube amp's preamp (think Soldano, Bogner, whatever). Only video I found seemed okay but not OMG-life-changing. I'd sooner look at Bogner's pedals, but I'm still a bit ticked for Aen about the whole Shiva thing.
