I just got the action on my PRS fixed up (horray!) and now its super slick sounding (horray) and its super low.
what i didnt ask the techs was how they were going to adjust the pickups, if at all
my old marshall combo gets the rankest fuzz overdrive naturally, just with gain,
but after said tune up, nothing! no natural tubeness or breaking up at all! just clean, clean gravy.
any thoughts? whats the effect of pickup height on natural overdrive/and or gain
I NEED DAT FUZZ

Yeah, I'd start with pickup height. You'd be surprised how much it can affect the sound

Higher up will be louder, have less sustain and be brighter. So probably more overdrive closer to the strings.

Also the magnets in the pickups can pull on your strings choking the tone if they are too close. Try backing them off a bit.
