2xEL84's heads (or 2x6v6?)

Hi guys!

I'm one of those million softies who is looking for a little less power. My 100 watters are the best but when the master stays around level 1 it's getting ridiculous after a while...

I'm interested in the Laney Cub Head, 15 watts through two EL84's.

Anyone an idea if this will get me close the sound of a 100 watter on level 1? :animal:

Would be perfect! I'm not looking for superclean but for a nice and full crunchy tone to boost with lots of fuzz & muffs. And occasionally some cleanwithsomecrunchontop for the peaceful intermezzos...
And will those little amps give me satisfaction on the low end when hitting hard in a band situation?

Other recommendations?
Or maybe the Ibanez TSA15H with 2x6v6?
Or the Peavey Valveking 20 Micro Head, also 2xEl84, but 20watt, would there be much difference with a 2xEL84 15 watt head in volume?

Thanks fuzzy friends of mine!

I've had two 2xEL84 heads previously- Jet City JCA20, and the Verellen Spaldo.

They were very different heads, but they were both awesome. They were plenty loud for only being 18/20 watts respectively.

Both of them seemed to have enough bass for my situation when I had them. There was a little more flexibility with the JCA because it had more controls (EQ, master volume, etc)

I had the Orange OR15 which is 2xEL84 at 15W with a half power option. Cool amp with plenty of volume and gain on tap.

EL84 based 15 watters are my trade. I live in an apartment so I need to be able to control the volume and at the same time want to be able to get a decent clean sound in a live situation. I currently have a Verellen Spaldo with a 1*12" cabinet and it's pretty much perfect for this situation.

My home amp is a Marshall JTM30 running 2 5881s (basically 6L6s), and it can stay clean up to some pretty high volumes on the clean channel. I've actually been considering having it rebiased so I can run 6V6s for earlier breakup

after all I've decided to give the ibanez tsa15h a chance.
the 2x6v6 should give me a little more headroom and for the price it seems like a nice, warm, ready to abuse amp! :yay:

I'll let you know!

and so the ibanez tsa15h came and won!

Fat clean and perfectly voiced! (fat bass, nice mids...)
Tried the OR15 as well but I really did not like the sound of that one, even with treble and mids on 0.

Love it!

Tried it with my loudest band yesterday and with 2 4x12 cabinets it could stand next to a loud drummer and ampeg svt classic... volumewise I prefer the KLIPP for violence like this but the tiny moddafakker is just perfect for jamming and not so very loud projects.
with volume maxed out she still swallows muffs & fuzz like a princess!
