Tim Effects Flip Flop / The Dropout

I came across these the other day which seemed interesting to me. They let you flip the order of pedals or place them in completely different areas: say from your pedal board chain to your effects loop with the stomp of a switch.

I am fairly new to this pedal stuff so this is the first I have seen something like this. Do other products/options exist? I would like to fully explore any options before I buy something.

The flip flop is a commonly made DIY project. The dropout is interesting. I don't use amp loops so it does matter for me. Thinking about all the wires makes me upset.

Thanks for your reply. Please know that it was not my intention to upset you (or anyone for that matter).

The Dropout also gave the example of dropping pedals out from another pedal's fx loop as opposed an amp's fx loop. I actually had this same situation the other day. I was using the Swirlpool tremolo/vibe pedal with another vibe pedal in it's fx loop. I then wanted to just use the other vibe pedal which of course meant unhooking everything. First world problems, amirite? This Dropout pedal would have been perfect in that situation.

Apparently, people on TGP have had customer service issues with the T1M dude. (Just a fair warning.)

I think Lehle also makes a switcher that does this.

Lehle, really?
I'm a dufus with manuals for those kind of pedals so I'm not sure, I think DanDubbleEwe from here did one of these, maybe try and contact him?
Read about people having troubles with the T1M guy too.

Cool thanks for the warning on the guy. I will be sure to read up. If it is a matter of him him not delivering a product after it is paid for, I can deal with that as my credit card will drop the charge and go after the guy with no hassle to me except a 5 minute phone call. But if build quality/reliability is an issue that would make me think twice.

I will check into Lehlek, thanks.

I thought so, but I could be wrong. :idk:

Nora will check it out and let us know. If I've steered 'im wrong, I'm sorry.

No, the T1M dude supposedly does good work, it's his delivery/communication which is at fault.

Plenty of people here could also build the flip flop or dropout for cheaper. I'd do it if I wasn't in the midst of a move.

Here's what I know/think:

- that there's other alternatives to the Flip Flop, but that there's nothing available commercially to compete with the Dropout.

- that the Dropout is the key to switching the fx that are normally in your chain in the loop of your amp or other devices. IE switch something in and out of the loop of your superego.

- if there's someone here that can build me a Dropout on the cheap, please pm me asap! I was going to order one in the next 24 hrs....

The T1M issues are related to custom orders I think. Stuff that is stock builds should be no problem. I think he stopped taking custom orders because there were too many backups and complaints. Seemed like the same old story with small builders - once you start getting orders in, nobody wants to admit they are buckling under a heavy work load, so they ignore emails. I bought a couple of custom pedals from him before all the problems, and it was fine. If you are buying stock items it should be fine. I don't know if anyone can beat his prices, but you could get extra credit for getting a build from an ILF builder.

Thanks for chiming in, K2000, I only vaguely pay attention to that stuff. So, it's good we can hear it from someone who's not spouting hearsay (= "me").

I had a ton of problems with him on a custom rehouse project that didn't pan out but it could have if he had just talked to me instead of hiding from emails. In the end it took two years and a complaint with the BBB to get my money back, but I never got my pedal back.

Eff that guy.

Good to know, thanks. I would have filed a complaint with his states attorney general's office.

I contacted American Loopers to see if they can build one of these Dropouts into their loopers as I am also considering buying a looper. Might as well get it combined if possible. Any issues with that company?

It looks like American Loopers already offers the flip flop and maybe the Dropout as available add-ons unless I am reading it wrong. So this may be a win win for me.

Additional Options:

The options bellow can be added to the looper by request.

- Programmable Amp channel Switching (will use a loop per CH switch, please email to make sure your amp will work with this feature) No up charge

- Some loops to the FX Loop of the AMP and some to the front of the Amp. +$15

- Switchable HD Buffer +$25 (in addition to the buffer costs)

- Effect order swaper "the flip flop" (swap the order of any two effects with the flip of a switch) +$25

- Re-rout effects to the FX of the Amp or (if the amp doesn't have and FX Loop) you can re-route them to the front as well +$30

So I broke down and order a Dropout, haven't had a chance to break her in, but it did arrive in the time that was promised. Wasn't as package as well as I may have expected from a builder that been around for awhile, and there was a fair amount of schmutz on the unit that had to be cleaned off - to the point that I initially speculated that I may have gotten a Bstock or something? dunno.

So, YMMV, but none of the speculative horror show stuff that's been bandied about elsewhere.
