They are great. I have been eyeing them for a while but always went with a bigger company. my local store had a session (rosewood and sunburst)well i picked it up and wow, the neck. It is just great. The acoustics alone are unreal and it's a solid body!!!
I was in the store to drop some $$$ on a fender (American in black)saw it said why not give it a go and 15 min later I'm leaving the store with the godin (and a class 5). I normally don't praise a company but if you want value and great crafting. Go for one. P.s. 5th Ave are great as well.

Godin builds fucking great guitars. Many, including my Detour, have a fugly factor, but play and sound great. Watch Amazon pricing--every fall they run some really deep discounts on a lot of models.

Pictures coming soon. Right now I'm thinking about a radiator (yes the ugly one) but it's too good of a deal to not get it.

I've been tempted by a few of them with the 13 pin outs for my guitar synth but haven't needed one desperately yet.

If I see a good deal on the wrong month, god help me though.

The Radiator is much nicer to my eye then a lot of their more 80s "tasteful shredder" design aesthetic. Mine looks like it's for a metal or fusion guy but has a pluck and chime that sounds Rick-ish to me.

godins are fantastic :) we have quite a few at the shop and i've played tons

since they start at approximately same prices are mexi Fenders, they really invite that comparison - at least in Strats. Most of the times, they feel much more solid to me. The "basic" LP-style guitars slay every basic Gibson i've played (but watch out for Hagströms!) and the 5th Ave are really great (especially in black, so classy!), but i just think the Kingpin IIs are just so much more interesting to play than the "basic" models that I'd really encourage saving up for those...

the only thing I don't get are the Tele-style abominations :D

Yep, those aren't quite right. The danger with Godins is picking up one you'd never be comfortable wearing at gigs and finding out that you love them. Luckily, most everything they do is pretty damned good so you can find another model that works for you.

Oh, and the secondary market on Craigslist is poor for some reason, so it's fantastic for buyers, horrible sellers. I ought to try to get as many as I can before people wise up to how good they are and prices go up.

I used to have a Godin LGX which I loved to play but hated to look at. I dug the style but I hate any highly figured maple guitars and the orange didn't help much either
I've been eyeing those Richmonds though and have wanted a 5th Avenue since they came out.
Definitely awesome quality guitars

Yep, Richmonds are great as well :)

also their acoustics, be it Normans, Seagulls or Art Lutheries, are great. I personally probably prefer Normans since they seem to go with a bit different woods like maple and shit like that. Being used to an all mahogany acoustic, those really sound great and fresh to me
