I'm going to defend him here, as I tend to do. Billy Corgan has been an unabashed wrestling fan for ages. I think he was once quoted saying something to the effect of pro-wrestling being modern day Shakespeare. He apparently watches wrestling dvds on the bus while on tour.
So, stupid: yes. Something we should be surprised by: not necessarily.
P.S.
On another note, I heard today that smashingpumkins.com is charging a subscription of 40 dollars for 12 months worth of so called "content" (studio footage, song demos, etc.). Basically, everything youtube, myspace, and the internet in general usually provides FOR FREE. Now usually, I'm a big Billy supporter when it comes to where he directs his life, art, music, whatever. But fucking the fans like this. Unacceptable. Release all the shitty, throw-away garbage you like, but make it free. Or release it as bonus content on a legit release. But man fuck that. He's really turning into some sort of money grubbing fucking weasel and it's come to the breaking point. Jesus, trying to ream 40 bucks from fans for some bullshit internet content, come on.

I grew up with wresetling, it was huge in my household growing up...but I think it is safe to say he has officially ruined that song. Thnx Billy.

The video montage of Ring of Honor set to Doomsday Clock* was great, but that TNA thing was just hilarious when I saw it. I love Billy and all his insanity, but that couldn't have been his idea. If you're talking about TNA you have to bear in mind how bloody inept they are, even by Wrestling standards (Who on earth would hire Vince Russo, or pay some chick from Survivor more than their top female wrestler was asking to STAY?). Even Vince McMahon would think doing that was cheesy.
