Elements Incoming

I just ordered one of the blem deals. I am very excited. I was going to also get a cleanness, but I have a Frommel shape eq, so thought it might be redundant. However the shape eq doesn't boost, so maybe I will get one for my second pedalboard. Also, it seems the element can pretty much do the job of the cleanness when not in use for distortion, so I figured let's play around with it and then see.

What do people use there Elements for? Blues, clean boost, tone shape, metal, prog, fusion? How would you compare it to other popular OD/distortions (tim, FD2, OCD, plimsoul, mxr, analogman, etc, etc) as well as esoteric ones (eg. I also have a Paul Trombetta Designs incoming - someday - in like a year, lol, but I am on the list).

Oh, btw, my first post, cool forum!

Welcome to ILF, Seth, nice first post! *high five*

I mostly use the Elements to sound like Slayer, high gain with dimed mids. I'd say the Elements compares most with other op amp clippers like the Tube Screamer, Rat, IC Muff, that kinda family.

You can use it easily for all of those. Lots of knobs and switches to get used to, but that's part of the fun.

Don't forget to check the settings thread. Lots of rad sounds there.

the higher voltage you run it at, the cleaner you can get it.
up to 18v for clean sparkle with the gain at minimum

Good tip. Been researching power supplies actually. Need one for my Pedaltrain mini and one for the jr. Thinking about the Cioks DC10 for the jr. Got a one spot running the mini right now, but that won't do 18v.

Off to check out the settings thread!

the cioks dc10 has:

Outlet 5-6: 9 or 12V DC / 200mA each*
Outlet 7-8: 9 and 12V DC / 400mA
Outlet 9-10: 9 and 12 or 15V DC / 400mA

12 or 15 is good too

You van get 18v with their voltage doubler cables. Uses two outlets but whatever. I have run my Elements at 18v from my Cioks. I like 9v though because distortion

I deliberately avoid posting in threads about the Elements because I know I'm gonna get talked into buying one.
Which isn't the problem.
The problem is my complete lack of cash.

One day, though.
