Seriously, can we talk about how awesome Big Country's lead guitar tone is? I don't know if it's been discussed before, and maybe it's because I'm a bass plalyer, but damn it sounds awesome! Seriously, listen to it:

I listened through The Crossing the other day (like really listened to it) and that guitar tone is so awesome! Why don't more guitar players sound like that? Seriously, fuck Tom Morello*! Big Country all the way!!!
* - I'm just kidding, I love Tom Morello's sound, and I'm kind of drunk.

I agree, there is all sorts of interesting guitar toans on that album. There is a lot of guitar that is meant to sound like other instruments, like bagpipes in your example. A lot of stuff that you may think are synths are actually guitar. RIP.

Another song/video I was exposed to by watching Beavis & Butthead as an adolescent
"3 Wheelers rule"
"When you turn really sharp, they fall over and crush you"
Huh huhs and heh hehs.
Lots of interesting bands/tones on that show....right alongside the crap with extra cheese. And dumb silliness.

It's mainly some Boss pitch shifter, maybe an ME.

I'm more interested in talking about how they may have influenced Yeasayer.
