ear problems

I went to a stupid loud gig the other night. I wore earplugs (32db). It was mostly low frequency droning sludge. I could sort of feel the sound hitting one of my ears though the earplugs, especially certain frequencies. I actually had to put my hand over the earplugs to really block out all the sound.

Anyway, that night falling asleep there was some mild ringing going on, no big deal. The next day I woke up with a crazy earache on one side though. The ringing wasn't really there anymore, but there was an intense amount of pressure. Sort of like when you are in an airplane or driving up mountain roads. When I move my jaw around or yawn I can hear a wet, clicky sound like its about to pop but the pressure is never released.

Any of you have anything like this happen? I'm on day 2 and this shit blows.

Sounds like when I had glue ear, which really sucks. It sounds to me like you have some kind of fluid build up in your middle ear, especially if its a wet sound when you move your jaw. There's ways to get it cleared, but nothing that comes without risk.....

Well, hopefully it drains out on it's own soon. I'm gonna wait a while before seeing a doctor about this...but it almost seems like the ear plug itself was the culprit here. Maybe I pushed it in too far or something? I dunno, the affected ear has always felt more sensitive to loud noise than the other one for some reason.

Nah, my guess is you may have had an ear infection, and not had a reason to feel it too much. There was likely already an inflammation and fluid. The show just triggered and awareness to it. Granted I am an artist, not a doctor. Go see a doctor.

When I saw Sunn, I had a low / sub frequency ringing after the show…. the strangest thing I've felt aside from the show itself.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll hit up the Dr next week if this shit doesn't clear up over the weekend. It seems a lot better today than before. I still hear that juicy squeaky bullshit every time I swallow though.

Try putting some peroxide in your ears to clean them out a bit.
