A 2010 Macbook Pro with 4GB ram, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running OS X 10.6.8

What are my options for cleaning it upgrading? Willing to wipe the whole thing clean and start new if required. Please chime in if you have any ideas.

Ideally I'd like to run Logic X, Ableton Live, and Mainstage 3.

Get as much RAM as it can hold if you ever run out of memory. I went up to 8 gb for my Mac for work. Definitely keeps it from slowing down when you have a bunch of shit open

13" or 15"?

crucial.com + scan my system. upgrade to 8GB of RAM if you can.

Logic Pro X is great. Better if you have 8GB of RAM. It will run okay with 4GB but you won't be able to have anything else open. Upgrades to the memory will certainly increase the longevity of your computer. I have a Early 2008 iMac with 4GB of RAM on 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo running 10.9.4. If you want to run Logic Pro X you'll have to upgrade to OS X Mavericks (10.9). I haven't had a single issue with 10.9 and how it functions. My audio interface is fubar but that's not Apple's issue, it's an M-Audio issue. Doesn't matter, I have a backup.
