Anyone have experience with Rose picasso pickups? I can't seem to find much info online, but they look pretty interesting:

Yup. I have a set at home unused right now (for sale).

I had them in my CIJ, and liked them quite a bit......but since it's my only Jazzmaster, I wanted to keep it more classic vintage correct style pickups.

They're really well made, and are almost like dual Tele pickups in a humbucker.

Do they sound a lot like WRHB?'s How are they distorted? I'm thinking of trying an overwound Alnico 5 in the bridge, but I'm worried it'll lose too much jazzy characteristics which I might miss. I generally dislike humbuckers... then again, I play a lot of heavy stuff so it might work out better. I'm reading they are pretty loud and still sound single-coil isn?

I had a '72 Custom and Deluxe, and wasn't a fan of the modern Fender WRHB.

The Picassos were great. I thought they retained the JM sound enough, but yet had more low end (like a humbucker should).
Anyway, the Picassos do have more output than a typical JM single coil. They aren't super hot, but definitely hotter than a typical low output vintage style JM pickup.

on my CIJ, I obviously started with the stock pickups. Bridge is crap.
Since I play in a heavier band, I thought the Picassos would be a good choice, and they were..............but since I hadn't experienced a "real" JM sound, I decided to try out some Antiquities.
Which is what is still installed. I like them alright, but they don't really lend themselves to the kind of music we play. The Picassos worked WAY better for the band.
I have some vintage style Pickup Wizard pickups I'm wanted to install, so I can compare to the Antiquities. I picked them up used for cheap.

Overall, I think Rose nailed the middle ground between a JM with single coils, and a JM with standard humbuckers.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it. I'm only looking to try a bridge pickup... I guess for 60$ it doesn't hurt to try. I have a pickup whiz vintage in the neck, it sounds really full and clear.
