New delay pedals coming out all over the place the last couple of years but can any of them do the Multi-Tap mode from the SMMH?
I have a SMMH but I only use it for the Multi-Tap mode other wise I would have sold it

I've yet to find one
You can max out the mix on some delays to get that ray gun effect
But the whole swell in thing and cleanliness of the repeats seems to be the smmh's thing

I've never used an SMMH (so I'm not sure if they're exactly the same thing) but both the Timebender and Delaylab have multitap and dynamic delays.

I've not experimented with it much but the Zoom CDR has a multi-tap setting.

What do you mean exactly by multi-tap? Is that the one that only plays a certain number of notes? or is that one with repeats in offset rhythms?
If it's the second there's a lot of delays that can do that, TC Nova, Timefactor, Superdelay, Pigtronix and probably a lot more.

I don't know why EHX called it Multi-Tap because it's not really what it sounds like, it has nothing to do with multiple delays or tap tempo.
Essentially it's a delay where the repeats don't decay, so the last repeat is the same volume and fidelity as the first giving a kind of stuttering effect.
Check this video out at 4:40.

It's a great sound and I used to have an old rack unit that did something similar but I've never come across another pedal that could do it which is odd because it's seems such a simple idea. The Hazarai is good pedal but it does have a volume drop/tone suck when engaged and I don't really use any other settings on it.

Yeah, multi-tap is a misleading name. I think the Yamaha Magicstomp manual explains it as multiple delay lines. Doesn't have anything to do with tap tempo. Anyway, the Yamaha Magicstomp and (as mentioned previously) the Zoom MS-70CDR both have it. I've got both, but I've never played around with it on either. I do use the multi-tap on my SMMH all the time though. I love that sound.

Dispite the somwhat misleading name, that sounds like something a superdelay could do as well
I forget the mode name/settings though.

The bit I like even more is in addition to that you can set it so each repeat is LOUDER than the last. I loved using that when I had a SMMH.
