A good friend of mine had his house burgled a week ago, among other things his 4 guitars were stolen:

USA G&L L-2500 in Greenburst with natural wood binding
Reverend Manta Ray 290 in trans red
Reverend Sensei RT (mini-humbuckers) in silver metal flake, non contoured top
Ibanez AF75DTOR (trans orange hollowbody)

If you can, please be on the look out for them. And if needed I think I can get the serial numbers or put you in touch with him.

*Sorry this is a crosspost, just wanted maximum visibility

ETA: Sorry forgot to mention this happened in St Paul, Minnesota

Sorry to hear this, hopefully he has insurance.

Team, as a PSA, if you don't have insurance on your musical instruments or at least the most expensive/favorite/rare items etc you should. I have my guitars and 1 amp insured which comes out to $9500 of coverage. It costs me $4.91 a month. It covers theft, fires, anything really. If my strap slips and my guitar falls to the floor and breaks, it is covered. At lot of peace of mind for $4.91 a month.

Can you get your pedalboard insured?

The only way to know for sure is to call and ask but I don't see why not. I would think pedals fall under "musical instruments". Below is from the State Farm website showing the types of things they cover in their personal articles policy.

This policy may cover items like:

Jewelry
Furs
Cameras
Musical instruments
Silverware/goldware
Fine art (such as oriental rugs and paintings)
Collectibles
Sports and golf equipment
Computer equipment

Know how that feels, had all my gear stolen 10 years ago,$5000 worth of merchandise gone, had renter's insurance at the time and it was a mess, they pretty much refused to cover anything that wasn't bought new with a receipt, regardless of the pictures I had of my used stuff, I got $1200 back and pretty much dropped my musical ambitions as I had so many other items of importance to replace.

Yeah, I have renter's insurance and the addition to my monthly payment was only like an extra $12. I asked them if I needed to itemize (for my gear) and she told me that at the basic level, renter's insurance covers $30,000

Just remember though that renters insurance (which I also have) only covers shit in your house. A personal articles policy covers your shit anywhere. So for instance if your gear was stolen at a show, your renters insurance wouldn't cover it but a personal articles policy would.

Good idea. Maybe a mod will be a sweetheart and split the thread off.

Jakezor - you should also post this on Reddit and your local craigslist if you haven't already.

He does have homeowner's insurance, I think they'll cover everything in full since he had records of purchase.

Don't worry about using my thread for discussion, it keeps it bumped and if more people are aware about insurance.

I'm not on reddit, and someone already took care of facebook and I think craigslist.

Just played a 'used' red Manta Ray 290 at Guitar Center Roseville, MN last Sunday....I kinda felt something was amiss, as that guitar was way too nice for GC and listed pretty low...have your friend check it out in person (not listed online?!), and good luck!

Check your renters or homeowners stuff (call and ask too).

Some policies have limits on any particular category without going rider.

The riders are cheap for the musical gear usually, and gives a ton of peace of mind.

As an apartment dweller, I'm more worried about some idiot running the tub and the ceiling coming down or the electrical taking stuff out or whatever than theft.

On disability, I can't possibly replace what I have now if it was toasted through no fault of my own. I can insure it all for the price of getting a pizza ordered a month (no auto etc to bundle it with, so I get the standalone rate). The policy wouldn't cover all of it these days and I have an appointment scheduled with my dude next week to make the yearly adjustments.

prob depends on your specific policy but
a friend of mine recently had their van broken into while they were on tour. his renter's insurance covered most of the stuff he lost. they sent him a brand new iPad, iPod and headphones as well.

Sweet. It almost makes it worth getting robbed.
