So, I'm on tour right now. Third day in, the amp I was using, a Sunn Beta Lead, was turned on and made a solid tone that could not be changed by the preamp at all. The lights on the pre also don't light up.

I bought a mesa m pulse 600 as a replacement, and a week or so later, it cuts out completely, and smoke pours out of my cab.

I buy two Eminence Kappa 15LPFAs, install them in the cab, and turn the mesa on, and it does the same thing the beta did, and then stops, and then more smoke.

Please help me figure out what the fuck is happening.

Definitely sounds like a wiring issue to me.
If the cab was the same each time, it's likely the culprit.

Does your Mesa work still or has it completely shit the bed?

Things I think it might be:

1) A speaker gave out sometime on tour, causing a short, killing the amps.
2) I've been playing in a lot of sketchy basements.

The mesa is totally gone too.

WHAT!!!! The Mesa blew out too??? Holy fuck dude! I'm sorry that sucks so bad.

Have you contacted Mesa? Won't help you now but hopefully they would be willing to fix it.

Yea I'm thinking faulty speaker cable/wiring or busted speaker. Very odd.

Agreed - this is almost definitely a wiring/shorting issue.

Whatever you get to finish out the gigs with, if at all possible use SOME sort of surge protection/power conditioner. Something must have been REALLY wrong to make the Mesa puke :/ That blows dude.

or the speaker thing, odd none of the fuses blew and protected the amps.

Solid state bass amps are pretty tolerant of impedance from 2-16 ohms. One possibility was you blew the driver and it fucked up something in your Sunn's output section, possibly sending DC to your speaker cab.

That's what I think happened.
