Small Stone Quest

Hello guys, I'm looking for a cheap phaser that reminds me the sound of the Small Stone.
I only had the big box SS reissue (with wood box, I don't know how old it was), but its volume drop made this pedal useless for me.
I discovered that Visual Sound makes a clone, the Oil Can phaser, but I never tried it and the demos suck, also a friend of mine has the Nano Small Stone and this version doesn't have any volume drop, the sound is nice, but many people say that nano ehx are shitty pedals compared to the originl. Another option can be the Zoom MS100 that has a Small Stone emulation, but I think that digital phaser sucks.
Any suggestion?

Thank you! :)

I'd just get the nano, or see if you can try out the oilcan in person. I personally have had no issues with the nano stuff...other than a knob breaking off cause the pots are plastic.

Nano Stone is cool but I liked it better with Clean guitar and not Fuzz guitar so much so...

Yeah, I agree. If we're talking cheap phasers, I think a Phase 90 sounds better with dirt. I had both until the switch crapped out on the Nano.

Thank you for the answers! For what I remember the big box small stone extremely sucked with dirt and fuzz pedals, but I use phaser only with clean or light overdrive!
I'm gonne check the nano!

The Nano sounds crappy compared to the real big box in my opinion, it's an easy mod to take care of the volume drop.

The only problem is that big box small stone are really overpriced in EU and the cheap ones look like someone has cover them with cow shit. :whateva:
there are some cool small stone clones around there?
I had the whetstone but it didn't do dramatic sweeps like the SS.

Hey I have one that's broken (I think it's the footswitch) but you can have it for the cost for postage only if you like.

I have a big ol Sovtek/EHX one... One of the later models, but ive never noticed much volume drop... it can actually cause the signal to get unbearable boomey i feel... On the "up" position of the colour switch.... Not sure how much help that is, but i got it for like, 30 pounds and just replaced the power supply input

You're welcome man. :)
If they can repair it they can probably fix the volume drop issue too, just ask them about it, I haven't noticed much of a volume drop with mine when it still worked though.
