Okay, I don't know who is from the east coast, but we've got this awesome label over here Exploding In Sound Records. Total 90's indie worship and every band is super good. I posted Ovlov in a thread and decided to make this another spot. I think you guys will dig a lot of these bands.

Speedy Ortiz was on this label for a minute before signing to Carpark. I'll list them first, they sound like Pavement if Pavement was fronted by a female and was heavier and more hook oriented. Albeit, more fuzzed out. Their guitarist plays a gnarly duo sonic which he abuses at every show in awesome ways. He actually just left the band, which was a bummer because his playing was excellent. This is one of my favorite currently together bands of the moment. So good. Really dissonant in a beautiful way.

Pile is so sick. That's basically all I can say. They have this haunting sound, it's like folk but played loud with electric instruments and very unique and dark. I can't accurately explain it. It just sounds good. Just listen.

Ovlov are from Connecticut and are friends of mine. They are just killer. They get Dinosaur Jr. comparisons a lot. They're really a super loud indie rock band obviously inspired by 90's stuff and they do it super well. They have a new split coming out and the track below is from it. Really love this song. Long intro, but sit it out!

Those are my three favorites but you can check out more bands right over here http://www.explodinginsoundrecords.bandcamp.com

Pile is pretty sweet. My old band had the pleasure of playing with them boys. Good to see their getting some recognition.

fun fact: the drummer of Speedy Ortiz used to play in Ovlov.
the guitarist also used to play in a band called Graph who were INSANELY good if you're into 90's influenced indie stuff. check this out:
