Genuine, non cynical, no-alterior-motive question:

why does this need a kickstarter?

Well, I'm not gonna speak for Ghost Ian, as I can only speculate.

Maybe he's trying a new business strategy?

I think Kickstarter campaigns can be useful in general for raising awareness of a new product.

He certainly got my attention.

Maybe you should ask him Ian to Ian?

If I sort out my new bank card in time I will totally get one.

And as for why it's a kickstarter, I guess it's a simple way to offer a variety of different things. Functionally the same as making a regular preorder deal but less organising for the builder. :idk:

A few reasons I'm doing it this way, I think its good to check demand for it before committing to a run, tons of people do fuzzrites so I have no idea if people even want another!
I wanted to see how the whole process worked using kickstarter, I have a few ideas that would suit the platform, this fuzzrite thing is the first.
I thought it might even be good for marketing, and tbh it seems to have got some attention that I wouldn't have got if I had just out of the blue started doing these pedals!
Its only a small run so not a lot of risk involved for me and the customers.

Cool! I'm sorry for asking in hindsight
My perception of "what kicker is for" was perhaps biased.

Good luck with it :joy:

I just made my pledge earlier today - DIY board with capacitors and whatnot, whoo-hooo!
