I was BLOWN AWAY. I knew I loved them, but HOLY SHIT.

Girlfriend though..she wasn't having it. But she toughed it out through the whole show. And rolled her eyes when I went to check the merch.

Girls just don't understand.

A lot of girls are usually at their shows when I see them. I love them live. Heard a new song from a show that was great. I feel like they're do for a Drugs to Dear Youth style album. Loved the new album. It was very different then Patagonian Rats. Feel like they were channeling the weird 90s bands that broke up before most fans heard them. Shudder to Think was something I heard a lot of in the new jams. Maybe the chorus is what's reminding me of the 90s.

Lol my GF bought the tickets to Tera Melos and Dillinger Escape Plan. It was her birthday gift to me. We had seen Tera Melos before, and she liked seeing them again for a second time, Dillinger was a different story. She said it was a good show and their energy was second to none, but she could have done without all the screaming and brutalness haha.

I've taken her to many shows out of her comfort zone though. I try and trade off with some bands that she likes, but her tastes are 90's punk and new wave stuff (and Mumford and Sons :grumpy: , which I was informed would be the price I'd pay to see DEP). She likes finding new music and has been very open to some of the stuff I have shown her.

Fixed. Damn autocorrect and sloppy typing.

Mumford and Sons ay? Stronger than I am.

I'm not huge into Tera Melos (only because I'm not familiar with them) but this made me giggle.
I dragged the wife to Sydney last year to see Sleep. I was like a kid at Christmas, she just endured.
Didn't help that some 6' something chunky dude got so excited AT THE FIRST NOTE OF DOPESMOKER that he had an epileptic seizure behind us and dropped to the ground, hitting my wife on the way through.
I take my hat off to her though, she made it through the whole show.

lol, this thread makes me feel lucky. my gf heard the new Helms Alee and said "Why didn't you tell me about this before?!"

that said, Tera Melos are totally fun live and i'm kicking myself for not going to see them on this tour. :grumpy:

my wife only goes to see bands with me if they're brutal and makes fun of me for going to see 'false' stuff.

My girlfriend tells me all the time that she'd come to concerts with me since I don't usually have anyone else to go with
Only problem is she's a country girl......I know
On top of that she has ear problems and isn't supposed to listen to anything loud
As much as I would like to bring her to expose her to my music some more, I just don't think I'd be able to enjoy the shows the same :idk:

My wife and I first bonded over our music tastes. Every good show I've been to since we met (save for maybe 3 while we were on temporary hiatus) I've been to with her. Most recently, she got good and tipsy and danced joyously to Russian Circles. Oh and Modest Mouse the other day. She's got a RC sweater that she wears almost every day.

I'm one of the lucky ones, I suppose.

haha my wife bailed on watching russian circles when my band played with them because they weren't metal enough (also because she'd flown back to australia from new york that morning).

she likes what she likes. And what she likes happens to be basically old rough trade bands, maiden, and black metal. *gloating*

I'm jealous of you guys. But the gf and I are super compatible otherwise and I've kind of accepted that I have a fairly odd taste in music.

My fiancee is a country girl too. She still comes to shows with me sometimes, but they're not her cup of tea. Really, I'm fine with it though. So we don't have the same taste in music, no big deal. We're stupidly compatible in most other ways so I can deal with this.

I dated a girl for a few years way back who had awesome tastes in music, tv, movies etc. We'd go to shows, she even introduced me to some of my favourite bands. That was awesome, but she was less than awesome in many other regards.
