Do you guys know Weed from Vancouver, BC? I saw them at a friend's recommendation and it was the best show I've seen in this town since Tera Melos just over a year ago. Super cool 90's/Noise/whatever cool kid music. I didn't think much when I came out and saw three little combo amps scattered across the floor (plus a PEAVEY KVLT 212!), but when they started playing I heard more noise from those three little combos than I have from most of the bands I've seen with fullstacks. Total awesomeness. I found this video, you guys should check it out.

Hell yes. I made a thread about them back when Deserve came out. Also saw them at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. Really kick-ass show. I thought the shoestring was hilarious. The singer was getting his distortion from the dirty channel of a Jazz Chorus 50. Guitars sounded amazing but at the show I was at they had a different drummer than usual who wasn't as good imo. More metal-y or something.

Just heard about these guys. One of them is from my neck of the woods, they played a basement show here in EC, but I believe I missed it and had sex.

I haven't heard of them before now. This is fucking awesome.

Absolutely adore this band. Been listening to Deserve almost every day since it was released.

I'm glad you guys are diggin' this! Definitely picked up a copy of their LP and it's been in pretty steady rotation for me too. If anyone wants, here's a list of all the gear used:

Singer guy: Yamaha SG-3 > TU2 > SD1 > Roland JC50
Other guitar: Some Strat with a Floyd Rose > TU2 > Rat 2 > PV 212 combo (old school KVLT approved)
Bass: Squier Mustang > Rat 2 > Laney HARDCORE bass combo

Their live sound is so good, that video sounds a lot more polished (in a good way, well kinda) because there was CONSTANT feedback and a ton of noise, but there was always a strong melody that carried through and the bass sound was really heavy and driving. It was a totally messy sonic mush that made my ears hurt but also made my entire body happy.

All I want to do now is start a band that sounds just like this using my Algal Bloom as my only pedal, but that will never happen

Their set made me wanna make my rig really minimalist just because of how fucking amazing they sound. Not gonna happen with a two piece band though.

Totally awesome. I bought the album and listened to it a few times now and it really is great.

I should be more aware of my local music scene. I'd come across the name in the local indie paper a few times in the past, but I'd assumed based on their name that they were stoner/doom and didn't pay any attention.

Have you checked out Cascadia? They're also from Vancouver and have toured with Weed before. Solid stuff.

Dude Weed is so fucking good, seeing this thread just made my day. Seek out the 7" Gun Control. It's so good, easily on par with Deserve. This stuff is just my cup of tea. Check out this band from Connecticut that has a similar sound, Ovlov. So good.
