Modding the EHX RTG...

So I broke down and picked on of these up.
It's cool, simple and works great as a basic sound-source.
BUT, man, the foot-switch on/off thing is kind of a bummer.
Has anyone F-ed with one of these things yet and replaced
the foot-switch with a soft-switch or even an on/off toggle?

Also, I wonder if by switching the potentiometer, if you could
increase the range of the rate control. I think it would be
mega-fresh if you could slow the rate way, way down....

Thoughts?

I guess my actual question would be, since it's just an on/off switch and not a bypass,
can I just swap it out for a 9-pin pcb mount toggle or do I need to find
one with a certain value? I see no markings on the current foot-switch
that indicate any of that kind of stuff.....

Switch rating values such as maximum current rating etc are not generally important in 9 volt circuits, the pertinent information needed is how many poles it has, whether the switch is latching or non-latching (i.e. momentary), and if momentary whether normally-closed or normally-open.

If you post a pic of the switch in question, we could probably see how it works: I'd guess if it's straight on/off latching operation, it is just one or two poles. It is possible that it's a momentary switch, and the on-off switching is electronic rather than just mechanical which might complicate matters - Is there a discernable click/clunk when depressing the switch?

Assuming it's latching, I'd aim to replace the existing footswitch with a momentary footswitch and add an extra mini toggle switch. I'd use this extra switch to toggle between "on" and momentary mode: Flicking the toggle up would turn the RTG on permanently (like the old footswitch) and when switched down, the momentary footswitch would trigger the RTG only when held down.

It might even be possible to make it so the footswitch function does the opposite of the toggled state: i.e. if the toggle switch is set to permanently on, the footswitch cuts it out, and if the toggle is set to off, the footswitch brings it in.

Best I can tell, it's one of these:

It is definitely a loud click/ lot's pressure to engage kind of
standard style foot-switch.
An amp builder friend of mine seems to think that
this should be no problem.
I do like the on/off and momentary idea though.

Which lugs are connected?
