Trading BT jazzy for a bass?

So I haven't played this guitar in a while. And it honestly needs a little work. Part of the nut came off when I put bari-strings on once without shaving it (silly I know) and the action is a bit wonky and it has some trouble staying in tune. Otherwise, it has been upgraded with fender hot rod pups and I put a better mustang style bridge in myself (why the action could use adjustment). I think there's one dent on it, but otherwise it's a decent guitar.
But as I'm finding, there's an influx of guitarists in this city and being a bassist/guitarist would be really helpful when it comes to finally hooking up with other musicians for something productive (not to mention bass is hella fun). I owned an Epi EB-0 at one point and would probably like something similar (short scale for my chubby hands) but I'm not set on that if something else grabs me.
My question is, what's the best way to go about trading my guitar? Should I bring it to a place like Music Go Round? What kind of value should I expect to get for it? And what kind of bass should I look for? The bass doesn't need to be amazing, just something that feels good when I play it.
Also side question, I have a '80 Fender 75 that I play guitar through. It's a 1x15 tube combo. Would it be acceptable to play bass through it? At least for practice?
