unmarked cab

So I found a speaker cabinet with nothing on it at all. No power handling info, no branding, nothing.

Am I gonna have to open her up? I'll post some pics shortly. It's pretty huge. I'm assuming its for guitar because it has a slanted front and I haven't seen many bass cabs with slanted fronts.

Yep. Open it up, see what the ohm rating is on the individual speakers, then figure out how it's wired (series/parallel) to deduce the total cab rating. Be careful not to mess up the rear jack wiring when removing the back panel.

My bass 410 is slanted and totally unmarked too. It's so ugly. It's black with a metal grill and incredibly heavy. It runs at 8 ohms.

I hope this was helpful.

Mine is exactly like that.

I haven't had a chance to open it up yet. If its a guitar cab, I'm selling that mofo and buying more bass gear! Yay!

I opened that cab up. Its got 4 Celestion G12M70 speakers in it. They're rated at 16ohms and I guess that means it can handle 280w?

Is this thing worth anything, money wise or sound wise? The enclosure is handmade. Looks like wood, maybe. Heavy as shit. I'll get some pics up soon. I saw the speakers going for 50 bucks each on Reverb, so how much would the actual enclosure add to the value?

Bump. Surely someone knows a little about this.

It reminds me of the old Crate cabs. They had a few that were pretty good if recall.

Are there glue/screw holes anywhere on the face, to get an idea of where, if ever, a nameplate would have been?

Looks just like it!

My dad was fond of Peavey stuff way back in the 90's, so there's a really good chance.

I'd ask him, but he died 15 years ago, KVLT rest his soul.

It doesn't have the same hardware, but could be!

I can't get anyone to buy it because its not labeled. I'm considering just selling the speakers individually. This thing is taking up a lot of space and I'd like to turn it into bass gear.

Selling the speakers separate from the cab might make the most out of it. Pretty sure it's a Peavey. Those cabs seemingly go for less because they are so heavy? Solid, but heavy.

I'm at the shop right now, stepped out for a smoke. The guy is looking up the speakers ATM. He seems interested but I think he's gonna low ball me. We played it. It works, but it sounds like icepicks no matter where the treble is set, and that was with a Marshall tube amp. I have no use for this thing, and I could use some cash to fund some gear purchases. Gonna try to get 200 but I doubt its gonna happen.
