Loud (Preferably Cheap) Bass Amp?

So, the bassist in my band is looking to switch over to a louder bass head for doom. If you guys could recommend some amps that'll crush then that would be greatly appreciated. As long as it keeps up with the wall of sound I'm putting out (I play through two 150-watt tube amps) then it'll be just dandy. Thanks for your time!

Some more detailed parameters would be useful. What is his price range for "cheap"? What cab is he using with it? Does he want a pristine clean or dirty tone (does he use pedals)? Does he care if it's tube or solid state? There are some bass heads out there that can hang at pretty loud volumes for a really low price (especially used), but it depends on the subjective tone that's desired and most of them don't have the cool factor a lot of people want as far as looks or name recognition go.

Sorry about being so vague. So she's looking to pick something up in the $150-300 range. She's using an Ampeg 8x10. Loud and clean is what's most important. She prefers to use pedals for dirt. It doesn't matter whether it's tube or solid state although she's used to playing through SS amps. And we don't care how it looks or what company makes it... We just want something that'll be able to put out enough power to match up nicely to my rig.

I will ship y'all my Mark VI (which should be well within your budget) if you don't have any luck locally.

An old Acoustic 370 or Peavey Mark series will suit ya nicely. And probably be right in your price range.

Ah, she, pardon my gender assumption. If you want something that has the most volume for the lowest cost, I'd suggest picking up a Behringer ultrabass bx4500h. They're 450 watts at 4 ohm, good and loud with an 810, they're cheap new (even cheaper used) and they're in large supply online. I've seen them on ebay, local craigslist and musicgoround's website at under $200. Behringer has a terrible rap, but I've actually used this specific head (provided at a practice space with an old band) and it held up to regular high volume use for over a year.

whoa. nice guy alert, here.

I have played in countless (read less than countless) that have you used old SS Peavey stuff and almost all of it has been used and abused beyond belief but still pumped out plenty of volume.
plus, kvlt.

Toured with one of these in my angsty 19 year old skramz band days. Never had any technical issues with it and armed with only an ehx muff overdrive coaxed solid tones out of it. And then eventually flipped it for some peavey kvlt and never looked back.

The bassist in my band picked up one of these guys for around $300.

Beyond loud. The sub bass is out of control.

I had a Peavey Nitro or Firebass 700 (Honestly can't remember which but I've played both and they sound the same) for a while that I got for around $200 and it was awesome for the sludgy hardcore stuff I was playing at the time, so I imagine it would work well for doom.

Acoustic 370, although they're more in the $400 range when I see them these days. However, the 270 can still be had cheaply and it's the same power section as the 370. I have two and I'll put them up against any guitar rig. 450s are cheap, usually, and they'll do the job pretty good, too.
I like Mark IVs, but they can be a little wanting for volume. If her cab is a split one, run two of those motherfuckers.

am I the only one that finds the peaveys a little bit underpowered? I haven't played a MK IV in a while but the III I have here struggles.
