4x12 speaker combos

I'm racking my brain for when I get my hands on a 4x12. A V30 loaded cab will be ample, but I was thinking of what to mix into it.

I listened to some demos of an Eminence Governor and liked it better than the V30, it sounded thicker and not as harsh.

Now, I'm thinking of an X pattern of Governors and something else with a little more low end. G12K-100s? Swamp Thangs? Can anyone come up with suggestions for this pairing?

Also anyone's favorite combos of speakers in a 4x12 or 2x12 or whatever. I liked the sound of the Governor but I'm definitely glancing around at myriad options.

Keep in mind this will be used for and only for funeralopolis doomy foot sludge and get your other bullshit outta here.

Also it'll be used with a Peavey Butcher. And UAK that I use a lot of dirt pedals.

I say the swamp thangs would be a good pairing.

right now I'm loving the swang thang/texas heat pairing cause it can handle all that I throw at it. Right now I'm just opting to do it in two cabs instead of splitting the speakers.

Let's say hypothetically ol' Pelliott would be playing in a sludge/noise rock band at the same time as his Thin Lizzy worship project started to get off the ground. Those Swamp Thangs gonna be a little too sludgy for that?

Am I the only person who really dislikes how choppy and blocky the swamp things sound when pushed? :idk:

Sure their loud and have lots of bass, but I didn't like their mid range tone at all....

That was a concern that I read. What about G12K-100s?

Those are everything I wanted the Swamp Things to be, without being what the swamp things are. :thumb:

another swamp fan here, for the reason skip doesn't like them that blocky midrange to me sounds pretty good, but its an acquired taste.

I love v30s and 75s together.

I love green backs and damn near anything.

I looooove swamps and govners together.

I was running g12k100's with swamp things in one of my cabs for a while, I liked the mix. currently running the monolith with all g12k100's and the peavey cab all eminence with 2 swamps and 2 delta 12a's very likey. the 2 12's are loaded with Altec lansing 417 8-H and emmy delta 12a's add the gk 4412H and together thay all sound glorious.

I find the swamp thangs good from grindcore and doom. I don't play anything clean so maybe I'm not hearing this blocky midrange described.

I like the Man O Wars crossed w/V30s. Although, I can't always tell what the difference was beforehand when it was all v30s. Maybe a little more even in the frequency range. I have no prior exp pairing speakers. I tend gravitate more towards to G12k100 cab though. Not exactly sure why that is, just more appealing to my ears. It just has its own character, similar to the V30 in a way. I'm starting think(at least for myself) that the best way to find a match is to have two loaded cabs of each. Up to this point, I've at least figured out that I won't ever know how well a different set of speakers will fit together unless I hear it for myself.

I've never had a mixed cab, but I do like the way my shitty v30 clones in one cab mix with the 75s in the other - fills out all the frequencies nicely I think.
