HOVERCRAFT amps...real talk

Am I the only one waiting to hear some hi-fidelity clips of these amps?
Maybe even some different players through them?
I get that they are selling like hotcakes so it's not a priority of the owner I guess, but the demo's are damn shitty overall.

I want to buy one, but not before I get a better sense of what they are capable of. A proper walkthrough of the different features, etc.
Why haven't there been any reviews or demos by some of the big time amp related Youtube channels?
If I were running a business I wouldn't be posting iphone audio of my amps online...
Just seems lazy to me...idk.
Thoughts?

I'm interested in these as well, The only thing stopping me from buying one is lack of solid, concise info, reviews and sound clips. Surely some of the stoner / doom peeps round here have had a dabble?

I think most of the stoner/doom peeps around here would consider them vastly under powered for that application. My take on them is they might make a decent bedroom amp.

This is a weird couple of threads for new posters.

Do a search.

I believe there was a short discussion resently about these amps on the "find bossk an amp" thread.

Didn't even notice that. Hmmm.

Bedroom amps they are not. I've had a couple Dwarvenauts and they're loud as fuck for 20W heads. Basically modded Jet City amps with a cosmetic overhaul. Nial is super cool and will tailor specs to your needs. They sound real nice and I never had any trouble with mine. Just moved on to higher wattage stuff and let those two move on down the road.

I just think they'd get buried when up against the other stuff we use.
Edit: I don't mean "bedroom amp" as a derogatory. Some folks have an application for an amp that is not designed to be as loud as humanly possible. I'm just not one of them. I love the look of them and as they are semi local, totally support them as a business. just tend to loose interest in anything that is rated as 20 watts. to me 50 is small. And 50 can def be plenty loud as well! If I didn't have my practice space in my home I'd probably be more interested.

Oh, I totally agree. I'm not saying they'll stack up against big amps, not the Dwarvenauts at least. I was honestly hoping it would be good for "bedroom/at home" use but to get it sounding nice it needed some actual volume of which is has lots. Not much taper on the volume control. I was pretty shocked at how loud they got, could probably hang with some 50 watters depending on the situation.

There's approx 4dB difference between a 20 and a 50 watter. Depending on speaker efficiency you could get a 20 watter louder than a 50. Also, wattage is only measured until the amp breaks up. If you're running it distorted that is also going to affect both the real and the perceived volume.

yeah, but record guitar and bass tracks at the same volume and then cut the guitar 4db and it will be inaudible. 4 doesn't seem like much as it's a small number. But when applied it is significant. My tech measured the output of my 1200s at around 150 watts. thats about an 8.8 db difference from a 20 watt head if the speakers can be assumed to be the same. Not going to work out well.

That's what I mean. If you get speakers that are 3dB more efficient you negate the difference in wattage. For example trading a greenback for an EVL.

Just being suspicious. I could totally be off the mark.

I did a search:

They're allegedly modded Jet Cities, I think? But they look great and sound good.
