I hope Korg make more guitar effects, they've been on a roll with old school analog synths.

Hmmm..
It doesn't have photocells/bulbs!
I just checked the official blurb. I quote, "The CdS photoresistor that lies at the heart of the sound is simulated by an original circuit using transistors"*. What?!
What sort of univibe is that!? What a load of b*llshit.

The Uni-Vibe is an early phase shifter. You can do phase shifting with optoelectronics, but there are other ways to skin the cat. By the description, they didn't just use the simplest alternate circuit but threw some effort at having the new circuit reliably behave like the old. Truth be told, some of the design might be labor saving, so that testing is a simple pass/fail and hand-trimming the circuit is unnecessary.
