Wanna repaint my Line6 MM4, need clues.

How do I get the metal labels off safely? I can see it will be easy to scratch them up, or bend them. I did some testing and they are soft and easy to scratch.

Also, my case has lots of paint left on it, but some big patches missing. Can I just repaint over the old paint? I reaaaaallly don't wanna make this into a huge project, or hire somebody to repaint it. I just wanna replace the switches, quick paint job, and flip it. It was a trade, and equal to $50 for me.

There are places that sandblast in my area, but I'm gonna guess that's expensive. And there's a small dent/piece missing. I might just repaint it with hammered finish.

I have a DL4 that I will do the same with (and probably keep) so all options are open. What about etching... too big/too deep? I was thinking a distressed finish would look cool. Somebody had a distressed/rusty looking pedal for sale in B/S/T that was rusty (and he said he set it on fire) then clear coated. Maybe something like that (after the paint is gone)? I dunno.

First issue is these labels...

From more Googling... I guess I would need a heat gun and a spatula to loosen up the labels. But I have boiling water to soak it in, and a putty knife.

:excellent:

Too cold out to spray it myself, so maybe this is a Spring project.

So there's a powdercoating company about a half-mile from my practice space - I emailed them for an estimate.

You should talk to drasp. Maybe he'll give you some helpful tips.

Will drasp talk to me if I'm not a customer? He sells the instructions as part of his kit. I got my replacement switches from Bitches Love My Switches.com (1.99 apiece).

I heard back from the powdercoating place:
Material:$120.00
Labor: Strip and powder coat :$265.00
:erm:

I don't know if drasp'll talk to you, but it's worth a try. His pedals look frickin' amazing.

Yeah, getting one piece powdercoated isn't really gonna be cost effective.

Yeah I thought maybe they could do my little job at the same time they were doing a bigger run (and I said that, plus 'No rush' etc) but probably not worth the hassle for them. On their website it shows the owner powdercoating a bunch of bike front forks (without a mask) :( My little job isn't worth the money.

i had a hard time removing the top and back side labels.
ended up really crinkling them so had to spend a looong time hammering/pressing them back.

got the enclosure sandblasted and put through a powdercoated run.
