Stupid Pedalboard Lighting question

Any easy recommendations for lighting for pedalboards easily powered off a typical 9v pedal power supply? Certain knobs are hard to read once the lighting gets less than ideal (i.e. everywhere). I only would probably use it during practice when I might be tweaking settings as on a gig, i don't knob twiddle. Would need something that would shine down on top of the pedals.

look for those gooseneck LED lights that they use for music stands...might be what you're looking for?

I think getting a flashlight mounted on a hat would look way cooler :p

Look on Ebay, there's some battery-powered ones made in China with two LEDS per lamp (so, two brightness level choices) and two gooseneck lamps per clip. I think they were about 12-14 bucks for a 3-pack (including shipping). I can highly recommend this type (but shop around for deals - I just searched for Clip On Lamp and found this right off the bat):

The clip has a swivel (?) a flap (?) I don't know how to explain it, but the clip mechanism works better than some other cheapies I've tried. The gooseneck is metal and stays in place. I see they sell super-bright ones with 8 LEDs per lamp, too

Actually, after looking again, that's the exact one I bought. 4 bucks apiece. Those ones work great for me (I clip 2 of them on a suitcase full of pedals, and one is a spare).

I don't know of any that are powered by a daisy chain, but if so, I'm interested too.

I've thinking about buying an led strip and making a light bar that'd hang over my pedalboard and could be powered off a daisy chain. I don't think it would be too hard to design or make really. I've just been too lazy to actually do it.

this. The lazy is strong with this one.
I've been considering getting some clip on LED lights as well. There's a computer shop close to me were I could get them discounted like butts.

I just found a way to do this on the cheeps. Buy this in the length you need:
http://www.glowhut.com/led-strip-with-m ... 93528.html
Buy one of these:

And bam! Cut off the battery snap, solder on the barrel plug, and you've got a daisy-chain light-strip :joy:
Then you just mount that on whatever you want. If you're feeling lazy a coat hanger and some twist ties would probably work. I'm going to make something slightly fancier/sturdier.

joking, serious though i dig this thread. friends' band had a rough opening song recently because both guitarists couldn't see a damn thing on the floor. & it was my fault.

i was thinking something similar but you gotta get this one, then you dont have to mod anything:

or one similar. My friend got it and it does all this light show/sequenced shit too and 5M? man 5 meters is long, also REMOTE CONTROL! i ordered a few the other day just for fun.

What about lighting candles all around your pedalboard in a semi-circle?

I don't know what I'd do with five meters of leds  If I had whole bunch of them I'd probably try to weave them into a light-suit I could wear onstage and blind the audience. That is roughly the same price for 5 times the lights and a ready-made power source...

My end goal is something that makes my pedalboard look like something out of 50's science fiction movie for under $20 and requires as little modification to my current setup as possible.

I bet you can cut that 5 meter strip, of course anything after the cut won't work but it's pretty cheap?

Be careful with that led strip! The controller thingy is most certainly controlling the leds via PWM. That can induce noise. Like, terrible loud noise.
