Affordable/economic studio monitors?

So once I get my tax return and drop the bigger portion of it on a baddass guitar order, I may look into getting some studio monitors. I've used monitor headphones for a long time, but there are a bunch of reasons why the regular monitors would do me some good. I'm looking at spending $150ish or less if I choose to get some. I know m-audio makes some, and there are those "Rockit" monitors with the yellow speaker cones.... I'll give craigslist a dig, too.

Anyone have experiences or recommendations?

You can usually find some of the Alesis monitors in that range on craigslist. I've found them to not be bad at all.

I have the KRK Rokits, they are pretty good for the price. They handle bass really well.

I've used the M-Audio B series and the KRK rokits both with great success before, I'd def try to look for the 8" woofer versions though as the low end articulation is alot better than the 5" versions of either.

I really like my M-Audio BX5a's a lot, but if you can find a deal on the 8" guys take it, because obviously.
