retarded cabinet question / bass cab for guitar

so i got this kustom defender v30 1x12 combo for cheap off craigslist for recording purposes. i put an eminence governor in there and it sounds sweet. its got a couple of speaker outs and switchable impedance. and i had this old empty peavey 15" bass cab laying around for a while, black widow i think. like this one
so i thought, what the fuck, maybe i'll throw an emi big ben in there for fun and see how that sounds. i was reading over this thread here where AxAxSxS was talking about gluing the joints internally then stapling some sweaters or whatever. this cab already has a good amount of foam damping stapled up in there, so i went with it. all the lows are there with the big ben, but it sounds stifled and half dead on the highs.
its not broken in yet at all, i know, but i guess my question is....how would i make the most of this cab if i wanted to use it for guitar? Ancient Astronaught sez that the reason why the emperor cabs are so rad is their resonance. so then id be negating all that with the foam stapled in there. could this be robbing the speaker of highs? should i rip that shit outta there and seal up the joints with wood glue for better resonance? or should is it just retarded to be trying to put that speaker in this cab. tell me whats up
