Love the way my telecaster sounds...looks, not so much

Other than the neck needing some more wear, I love my MIM telecaster.
It's basically this
I have that pickguard, a white one, and a purple one. It's on purple right now.
It's so boring looking. I kind of want to beat it all up, but I've heard relic-ing a poly looks bad.
And then I think about buying a new body for it in a different color, but thats a huge waste of money.
Also I dropped this guitar in the studio and it has a huge chip in it around the output, so I feel if I fuck up the body it wont be that much of a loss right?
Tell me what to do with this guitar.

Strip all the paint and do nitro seafoam is what I really want to do. I have no idea in the money investment on that.

I don't think it looks that bad? But you could always take all the hardware off, sand it down a little bit to get some tooth on it, and then spray paint it. The more you play, the more the spray paint will wear in some areas to show that color under it. I've done it with my Jaguar and it's been pretty fun

Do you have pics?

Basically just want this. I'd buy something like that for $150 but not much more. Could probably get like $75 outta mine.
I don't think my guitar is ugly. And it sounds amazing. It just doesn't move me to pick it up when I see it. I have to play it plugged in to remember why I love it

Not the greatest picture at all, but you can see where in the contour of the body the gold has worn through back down to silver because I sit with the guitar a lot:

I'm not usually in the habit of recommending products I have never used, and I don't usually recommend Guitar Fetish because I think they waaaaaay overstate the quality of their products, but...
Have you see
this?
I've been eyeing it up for quite a while, along with
this monstrosity. The reviews I have seen lean positive, and they are cheap.
Maybe it is an option for you.

I HATE that body you posted. It looks like a really obvious, poorly done relic job. I'd keep the body you have, maybe throw on some stickers and just play the crap out of it. Give it some honest wear and dings and dents, etc. If it sounds great, leave it be.

+1
the body colour looks boring to me too, but buying a whole replacement body for purely aesthetic reasons seems a bit silly
i would just sticker the crap out of it until you can't see the colour at all. stickered guitars are badass, especially if the stickers represent things that you like and aren't just there for the sake of filling space.
if not, maybe find someone who can refinish it for you? with a thin nitro finish that will crack and yellow much more easily. that way you can have any colour you'd like.

I go back and forth on relic'ing. When I've been "pro-relic" I was thinking about buying an unfinished Warmoth body and having this guy do a finish.

Didn't want that body specifically. Just a seafoam with nitro finish.
I think I'm going to try to DIY mine. Has a crack down to the wood already. Heat gun sand. Spray on some seafoam nitro.

i like the idea of the different color showin through
can you do nitro over finished nitro
or do you have to go to bare wood

You can totally refinish over the existing finish! Just sand the current finish a little so the nitro sticks better (or something like that, I've never done this myself). I like the look of it too, a bit of sunburst peeking out from below another colour looks pretty awesome. Like Joe Strummer's Telecaster. Unfortunately it doesn't always looks so good when it's done intentionally, like the Joe Strummer tribute Telecaster.
I think that's definitely a viable option for alexanderwolf, some of the original colour coming out from below seafoam green would probably look great.
