Simple Analog Synth for a newbie on synth

I play mostly guitar and want to get into a synth. I like things simple. Im not really good with complicated electronical gadgetry. I was playing a sub phatty at the guitar center and that thing is crazy cool but i don't know if i want to fork out that kind of dough. Something simple that may do stuff like the sub phatty that i can run through my Echorec, DMM, and Rams Head. I really like stuff like Lauri Spiegel and NIN stuff. I was thinking of just getting an ipad and try all the apps. Coolness.

I just bought a Minibrute. $499. Works great, I kind of wish I'd just invested in a beginner modular system, but oh well.... but the price point for a synth with cool knobs and shit is really cheap these days..... I think the Microbrute is even cheaper than a Microkorg, which is awesome....

Just be careful of any crazy bass you pump through guitar speakers.
But yeah, it sounds good.

Do the Korg Volcas count? Cheap, compact, analog I think.

if you wanna go real simple & vintage & not too expensive look for a yamaha CS-5. my first synth, very simple, fat as hell low end filter.

My first synth was a Novation Bass Station and I had a lot of fun with it
Running it through my pedalboard blew my mind...

Yeah the old ones go for like 250 and the new ones 350-400. SO not to much of a difference. Not many of the old ones going on the ebay though
