Any reason I shouldn't? Something better I should buy instead?
I just want something that has a few sounds and is durable.

Was never able to coax many usable sounds from a Zoom unit, though I was using their bass multis. Maybe grab a used M9?

B3 is okay. It will do a lot of things pretty well, some things really good and suck at some stuff (pitch shifting). All and all pretty good way to get a lot of useable modulation, delay and reverb.
So I guess G3 would be similar.

I have a Zoom Bass 506. I like the amp simulators, other than that, the modulation and verb fx are not great while not being shit either. Zoom seems better for applications where sound quality is not of a concern, like industrial/noise/etc...

I am a proud G3 owner. I love the thing. The user interface is very hands on and intuitive. No lists and tons of menus to scroll thru. Three screens and a set of three knobs for each. Straight forward and simple but very powerful. I'm a fuzz guy and i find the fuzz sounds on the unit very usable. The muff sim is great, even though it isn't very muffish, its still a great sounding fuzz. The chorus and slicing effects are the stars of the show for me.

I've heard his ^^^^, and was shocked at how good it was. Haven't tried the B3, but the G3 seemed like great bang or the proverbial buck.

Is the G3 plastic or metal?

Awesome man. Congrats...!! It's a really fun , very usable unit. The housing is plastic, but it's well made.

I liked the g3 a lot. To me, it's main advantage over the m series is the software and usb interface. Great for recording! It's all over my EP.
